Marvellous print and some lovely button and frill detail including two thread work loops above the buttons where the apron would thread through. Jackets would have been worn during the day with non matching skirts or petticoats for informal occasions.
the mid green gound printed with a swirling ribbon in red with yellow dots, small red, yellow, blue and white flower buds on a ground with small red leaves, the front with narrow frilled closure, three straight darts to the bosom area, elaborate double frilled neck, long sleeves with cuff straps and hooks and eyes, the back with deep inset sleeves, a row of six golden yellow embroidered buttons holding the waistband tie in place, the skrit pleated, lined in coarse linen with bodice closure.
Very good. There is the usual linen inner bodice which has been made from an earlier piece and then enlarged. There are two small holes to the back hem. These could be succesfully patched with the inside fabric if one wished, although they do not show with all the pleating. There is also a little hole to the bodice front, again it does not show.
