I bought this visually stunning length from an auction who described it as 17th century! On arrival I discovered it to be a very nice theatrical piece. The applique´ strapwork is beautifully painted with shaded dull gold.
A long length of gold painted fabric appliqué, outlined in two rows of different tan coloured cord, to a mid brown cotton velvet ground, backed with linen.
7ft 5 in x 14 1/2 in; 2.26 x 37 cm
Some cracks and little damage to the appliqué.
