Charming. For a small infant. The loop on the sleeves would have attached them to the dress.
Amazing decoration on these two items, achieved by a heat process. I am assuming it must have been a heated decorated clamp where the cloth was inserted and a pattern produced. Do tell me more if you know about this. Thank you.
From the attic of a house built in 1550. Provance available.
The small triangular linen dress insert stamped with a pink or carnation below a diamond design, hand made narrow Valenciennes lace trim to the top edge and two rosettes with original round headed pins.
Width 7 in; 18 cm
The pair of sleeves with linen damask gathered tops, each with a linen loop, the lower section with a heat impressed design of a pink or carnations, with a band of trim worked in the heat process, between hand made narrow Valenciennes bobbin lace trims.
Length 5 in; 13 cm
Very very good. I would suggest unworn.
