Rare. I have never seen a purse knitted in the round with seams at the base before.
The small purse knitted in bands of ecru, turquoise blue, green, terracotta, apricot, ochre, grey and black. the top with slits for the sage green plaited pull fastenings, trimmed with an endless knot above two similar but smaller knots, green and terracotta floss silks, the long sage green hanging cord has a cylindrical casing, the whole with silver wrapped silk cord couched to the bands in seventeenth century S shapes interspersed with silver spangles, each lower corner with a floss silk and silver tassel hanging from a floss silk corner, the base with silver knots on one spine, lined in ochre silk.
Top to base 3 in; 8 cm
Very good. One lower corner has one of the small turquoise floss silk tassels missing. The very centre base has a floss silk missing. There are a few of the minute silver endless knots missing. I am pretty sure it has the original lining which has been resewn at the top in later years. 944
I cannot find a knitted reticule in all my books on reticules and pouches.
