Lengths of Silk Damask
18th c

The most beautiful colour dress silk. The main side is a soft apricot on a silver effect ground. The underside has silver foliage on a stronger apricot ground. Either could be used.

Description

Central sprays of flowers surrounded by large blossoming flowers, fruits and leaves with a lace effect.

Condition

a - Pale side On black dot 13 in; 34 cm middle. Couple of dark brown marks to the large flower on the right centre. Richer side You don't see them.

b - Pale side:There is a little marking to the top right and a small hole. A black dot near the hem. The top left is slightly stronger colouring.Richer side: The reverse markings on the deeper apricot side.

Panel 4  & 5 - Two shaped panels - very good both sides.
