Designed by William Morris and registered on 7 April 1883 and woven at Merton Abbey. It came in four colourways. This design was shown for the first time at the Boston Foreign Fair in 1883. This piece is of course too small to get a whole repeat. It would look great mounted and put on a stretcher, or framed.
Hand-loom jacquard woven wool and mohair with columbines, violets, sunflowers and an acorn and leaves, in salmon pink, rust, pale blue and mid green on a dark green ground.
31 x 9 1/2 in; 80 x 24 cm.
Very good.
