Clearly this has been cut and would have been part of a larger panel. The colours are beautiful as is the embroidery, which is reversible. This piece would look wonderful framed and given as a gift.
The very fine muslin finely embroidered with sprays of carnations and other flowers, all in coral, fushia, cream, yellow/green, light and dark green and pale blue silks, selvedges 28 1/2 x 16 1/2 in; 72 x 42 cm.
The top and bottom are raw edges. The reverse, which would have been the top side originally is faded, in particular the coral shade. Because the embroidery is reversible, the underside can now become the top side and framed that way.
