Pocket
Early 19th c

Simple but pleasing. All very nicely sewn. I imagine a farmers wife would have made the pocket from a worn out garment. I think the woven fabric and the single blue tie is homespun. Whether the pale blue is original to the pocket I am not sure, but it certainly old, but crudely sewn to the pocket.

Description

The handwoven indigo and white herringbone weave cut in a simple curved shape, waistband and slit, two ties, a pale blue and white tie crudely sewn to the pocket and a black woven tie.

15 in;  38 cm long

Condition

Very very good, apart from the ties being crudely sewn to the waistband of the pocket.
