A sash or Uckur was worn by men and women. Drawn through the wide seam of the loose pants salvar and knotted in front to hold the baggy pants tight around the waist. The embroidered ends hanging down the front.

Good colours and design.

Description

The Sash ends with four blocks of stylised flowerheads using silver strip and silk filé (silver wrapped round a silk core), silks in red, green,lime green and blue, on a cotton ground, with some needlelace details to the borders, short fringes, one side of the length has lines of slightly raised weave.

Each embroidered end 7 in; 18 cm

7ft 6 in x 7 in; 2.3 m x 18 cm.

Condition

The embroidered ends are in very good condition. As you should be able to see from the photos, the centre has some mid brown stains, one is 3/4 x 1 in; 2 x 2.5 cm. A second stain 1 1/2 x 3/4 in; 4 x 2 cmThere is an original join to the centre of the sash.
