A Pair of Sleeve Ruffles
1745-7
The fabric is 1745-7 and probably designed by Anna Maria Garthwaite. These were made around that time with scalloping, but altered later. These have cotton gathering, and one of the the two seams is also cotton thread. The second seam uses linen thread and therefore correct. The two seams are machine stitched. The dress these came from was heavily and horribly altered in the 20th century, probably for fancy dress, which we have unpicked and are offering lengths separately.
