Italian Tabby Weave Valance
1600-50
Wonderful with the cording design and exquisite tassels. I think this must have been a bed valance. Now it would look good as a runner on a piece of furniture or a pelmet.
Heraldic emblems of the nobility were inserted into traditional floral ogival designs, which signify that the fabrifc was used only for a limited production and therefore more costly. I am rather assuming that was the case for this fabric. The quality of the braid and cording signify a high quality of manufacture.
