Girl's Hatbox, Hat & Gloves
1865/70s
Lovely and rare to have a small hatbox for this very sweet small girl's hat and gloves.
The hat reminded me of this photo in Clothes and The Child. See below.
Cataloguing
Of white velvet the brim covered in turquoise blue silk velvet, with a similar wide band round the crown, the side with a pale blue feather emerging from a large ruched velvet flower, fine ivory silk lining and two turquoise green ribbed silk ribbons.

The brown hatbox: George Himus. Ladies & Childrens Outfitters & Costumier, 1,2,3,4 New Coventry St & 5,6,7 Sidney Place, Haymarket (Central London).
The ivory kid gloves are very sweet with scalloped edges and fine sewing. Small glass buttons.
Condition
The lovely brown box is quite battered and needs conservation. The bottomis almost out and one side badly damaged.
The hat: Slightly grubby with probably some light moth nibbles. Slight discolouration to the turqoise velvet. The ribbons are in poor stained condition.
The gloves. Little grubby and with a stain to each glove. One glass button missing from the left hand glove.
