Wonderful. Fine linen, with wonderfully designed flowers. The embroidered fillings are fanatastic.
Cataloguing
The linen square embroidered with IHS within a sun opposite MAR within a smaller sun, the spandrels with exotic interwined stems and flowerheads, one with inititals SA, the two sides with large lillies, the inner border with a luip design repeat, all embroidered in crimson mainly in stem and cross stitch, embellished with small gold spangles, the outer cream silk border densely worked. Crimson edging and gold lace to one side and partly up two sides.
21 in;53 cm square.
Condition
To the right of the MAR sun are the slightest light markings, which are probably damp. Hardly noticeable. There is also a light brown mark to top right corner.
