Girl's Spencer
early 1820's
Glorious colour which I always call Imperial yellow after the Chinese emperor's robes. The skirt was bought seperately but goes rather well. The yellow slippers would complete the outfit. Also listed is a white unpicked skirt with three frills to hem which would complete the outfit.
Cataloguing
with deep scalloped collar edged with double row of corded silk satin, bust darts, the back with corded seams, the very long sleeves with shallow puffs silk corded edging and with overlapping silk pleat trim to front and back, the cuffs with a narrow strap and rosette and leaf trim, the edges with four rows of cord quilting, lined with natural colour fine cotton, 30 in or 76 cm bust.
Condition
Very good. Slightly marked . One little slit to front left hand side, as you look at the piece.
