Poke Bonnet
c 1815 - 1820

Love the way the silk ribbon has been fan pleated, moulded and pinned to the straw. The brim edge of crin (horsehair) and straw is very attractive. This ws bought in Holland, so not sure if it was made there.


Cataloguing

with deep crown and upturned brim, all in a narrow plaited straw, the brim edge  of crin (horsehair) and straw, lined with palest eau de nil silk the brim area covering a card support, the wide ribbons in shades of rose pink with brown and gold plaid, edged with silk tufts, crown 6 3/4 or 7 cm deep; ribbon 6 in or 15 cm.


Condition

The straw work is in excellent condition. The ribbon is a little grubby in places and appears to have original pins 5/8 in or 1.5 cm .
