The tent stitch on the central panel is extremely fine. Lovely subject. Originally a chair back.

A woman in feather adorned tricorn hat and flowing ermine trimmed cape, holding a sythe and spray of corn, with a fruit tree and large flower stem beside her, all worked in fine tent stitch in shades of red, blue, green, ochre wools and ivory silk highlights, surrounded by a multi-lobed frame of stylised flowerheads and C scrolls, worked in cross stitch, all on a canvas ground,
20 x 14 in/ 50 x 36 cm wide
Condition
Very very good apart from the red wool used for the very edge has losses. We could restore this by re embroidering with a red wool. The piece would then be ready for a frame or could be reinstated in a chair back.
