The large pistachio coloured ground with a central soft orange star surrounded by feathery leaf sprays and oriental stylised flowers, each end similarly worked and with a border of curved moon shapes filled and surrounded with similar foliage, each corner with a gently bending paisley cone, surrounded by a deep border of upright pines and foliage, the deep end borders with eight elongated pines with more exotic foliage, tendrils and flowers, and a further outer border with compact circular flowerheads and tendrils, all in wool and silk using pistachio, scarlet, pink, ochre, sage green, pale blue, black, orange, white, aubergine, epaulette borders of red, sage green,ochre, black, 11 x 4ft 11 in ; 3.35 x 1.5 m
Condition
One epaulette end has damaged to the black section. The other epaulette end has damage, with fringing having come off, and the end quite badly damaged. Ask for photos.
There are two holes close to each other, approximately 2 cm diameter and 1 cm. The central decoration has a small hole, but you can only see this when you hold the shawl to the light. There are a few small nail head holes in a little group to the main coloured body of the ground. These could easily be restored. Ask for photos.
