Cottage Garden Hangings
1930s
Beautiful colours in bright clear shades, nothing garish. Such a shame we do not know who embroidered them, whoever she was was very talented in the design and choice of shades. To photograph I have turned over the very tops. These were joined as two pairs of curtains, but poorly done, so I have unpicked them. We can get them made up and lined should you wish. Three of the lengths are the same with the poppies on the left hand side and the fourth is a mirror image with poppies on the right. As always lots of photos avaiable. I wish to sell the four lengths together.
Cataloguing
Embroidered in thick floss silks with a variety of cottage garden flowers including poppies, delphiniums, daisies, lupins, hollyhocks, tulips, daffodils, iris, loosestrife and others, in polychrome palette on a soft old gold cotton sateen ground.
5ft x 30 in; 1.14 m x 76 cm - 4 curtains
Condition
Very very good. There is a small 10 cm circular stain to the very bottom, disguised by flowers. Two of the hangings have a little group of pinprick markings, which are hardly noticeable.
